I got to meet Scott Kelby!!//Round Rock Photographer

Went to my Kelby Training here in downtown Austin back in January and had a blast! I got to meet the Photoshop guru himself Scott Kelby and he was gracious enough to sign my battered up book and take a pic.  Not my best pic but oh well!

It was my lucky day, because as I was running in the door and I literally bumped into him.   He was incredibly nice and patient with me.  Especially when I told him who he was..... "Holy Cow! Your Scott Kelby!!" What can I say, I was in shock and at a loss for words.

A lot of my fellow ACC photography department students were there as well.  And one of them asked me who were the men I was flirting with at the door!!   I had to laugh, and tell her, "That was wasn't flirting!!  That was Scott Kelby!!!"

A special thank you to Don Herron who was kind enough to take my picture with Scott and email them to me.

No matter what your skill level with photography or PS, take one of the Kelby trainings if you ever get the chance! You won't be disappointed and Scott gives you lots of great freebies!!  Loving the brushes that are eyelashes!!

Here are some of my favorite photos from my last shoot.  It was for a final project in set design.  We re-created Andy Warhol's Factory, Richard Avedon's studio, and the Chelsea hotel.  It was a blast!! There was music, there was food, there were drinks (ok it was water) and there were lights and cameras everywhere!!

Thanks to all my models, Michael S. Alexander, Maria Engler, Sky Van Vliet, Colleen Nelson, Megan Teague and Paige Teague.  You guys rocked!!

And of course I have to thank the folks that made the models look this great, a special thanks to Brian Emanuel and Tess Roy for all their hard work.  I couldn't have done this without you!

Baby Apple // Round Rock Photographer

The new apple of my eye!!

Here are a few of my latest photos of a newborn photo session I had recently.  She was such a sweetie and slept for the first 30 minutes.  Just enough time to get in these and a few others that her parents wanted.

I can't wait to take more pictures of her!!  I had so much fun!

Taste of Texas // Round Rock Photographer

Here is one of my latest photo sessions for food.  I wanted to do a Texas theme and found it in this Texas Flag made from a fruit tray of blueberries, strawberries and bananas with some yummy cream for dipping.

After a hard day of being under the lights and camera, these tasty treats went home with me and were transformed into jam.  And yes, they were as yummy as they look.  Except the bananas and creme.  The bananas expired at the end of the photo session and went promptly to the trash.  And well the cream wasn't edible because it was made of Crisco and Corn starch.  Just a trick of the trade.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did photographing it.  For more photos visit www.Peereboomphotography.com or www.PeereboomPhoto.com

Halloween Fun // Round Rock Photographer

Here are a couple of images of my shoot with my little model Holland.  She is going to be a sassy peacock for Halloween and couldn't wait to strut her stuff (just like a real peacock).  Also notice how versatile she is going from her regular hair to that purple hair.  She was just sure that it made all the difference.  Book your Halloween photos now!  There a still a few sessions open.

Speaking of Halloween, if you loved the lady in blue; here are a few more pics of her going from Punk Funk to an Angel just in time for Halloween.   I loved the fake mohawk and had a blast taking these and the sassy peacock.

And 2 HDR images into the Color 2 category (which is considered advanced photoshop). I didn't win any awards, but am just happy that my work is getting better! My little Wolf//Child Photographer

My daughter Holland had her first starring role today as the Wolf in her pre-school's play "the Three Little Pigs". She was fantastic!! She danced, she huffed and she puffed and she said every line on time and not one stutter. And all in spanish too!! She didn't shy away or cry or anything, she says she is ready for broadway and that she is going to be a Rock Star!! I love it!!

None of the pictures above have been edited, but if you want to see edited photos, go to:
www.Peereboomphotography.com

And keep an eye out for my new photos from the upcoming ACC Print Show.

Field Trip//Austin Photographer

You are never too old for a field trip!! I took a great field trip with my Illustrative photography class to 3 photo studios in Dallas, Texas. We went from biggest studio to small (3000 sq feet is not small!!). And boy did we learn a lot!!

One of the photographers we got to meet and visit with was Jean Ann Bybee, the author of Food Styling (photos from my phone above). Jean Ann and her husband Brad were so gracious and shared some of their tips with us on what equipment they use (and why), props, and gave us good advice on important things we tend to forget (like treating people with respect, no matter who they are). They were down to earth and made us feel right at home. They have a new book coming out and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

We also met with photographers, Jim Bowie, Mark Bumgarner, and Jeff Davis. They were great and shared a lot of information on the changes from film to digital, social media for photographers, and they even sold me a tripod that they didn't need anymore! What a bargain!! Their tips on how to do photography on a budget are priceless and will definitely be put to good use. The best part about visiting with them was not just that they were fun and entertaining, but that they gave important information on what we as photographers should really expect in the industry.

We also went to R&J studios where the "Big Guys" (JCPenny's, etc) get their catalog photography done. (See the picture with the couch!) It was huge and an overwhelming experience to see how the big companies work. There are not many large studios like theirs left, but oh boy, what a thrill to see it!!

Everyone we visited are amazing photographers and I am grateful that they took the time to visit with us and share their knowledge. It's photographers and companies like them, who share their knowledge and encourage the rest of us, that make me aspire to do better work and educate everyone on what good photography is!

A special thank you to all of them.

And HUGE Thank you to my awesome professor Tom Grant! Thank you Tom for setting this trip up and for showing us another side of photography that we probably never would have seen otherwise! It was eye opening and every photography student should have to take this trip!
